SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man taken into custody after a standoff with police in suburban Syracuse has been charged with fatally shooting a man a night earlier in the city.
Officials tell local media outlets that 29-year-old Sean Hunter was charged Thursday with murder in Tuesday night’s slaying of 22-year-old Lavon Spaights after an argument broke out on a Syracuse street.
Police say Hunter had been called by his cousin for help while she argued with Spaights, who was her boyfriend. Hunter fled the scene, but was arrested after surrendering to police at the end of s standoff Wednesday night at a home in Liverpool.
Hunter pleaded not guilty to the charge at his arraignment.
