MASON, N.H. (AP) - A man suspected of assaulting and injuring a police chief during a traffic stop in New Hampshire is facing charges after being arrested in Massachusetts.

Police say they arrested 38-year-old Russell N. Monbleau on Tuesday at a residence in Fitchburg, Mass. He was returned to New Hampshire on Wednesday and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Mason police says Chief Hutchens was trying to arrest Monbleau on Friday night when Monbleau struck him several times and threw a metal chair at him knocking him to the ground.

Monbleau then ran into the woods. Police searched the area with dogs but were unable to find him.

Police arrested the driver of the car, 34-year-old Danielle Dickstein of Amherst, on charges of possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.
