URBANA, Ill. (AP) - A federal judge in central Illinois has declared a mistrial in a Tennessee man’s sex case.
The News-Gazette in Champaign reports (https://bit.ly/LtBvs7) U.S. District Court Judge Michael McCuskey declared the mistrial Thursday in 36-year-old Joseph C. Harrison’s case. Harrison is accused of trying to electronically lure a Champaign teen to have sex.
The mistrial came after Harrison stopped his testimony, saying he was going to faint. The judge called a recess and Harrison collapsed in a hallway outside the courtroom. He was taken to a hospital.
The judge then issued the mistrial and ordered Harrison to receive further evaluation at a federal medical institution when he is released from the hospital.
Jurors had been chosen for the trial Monday. Harrison is charged with enticement of a minor among other counts.
