MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Unemployment rates are up in most Wisconsin counties and down in most major cities.

The latest figures for December from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development were released Wednesday.

They show that unemployment rates dropped or remained the same in 27 of the state’s 32 largest cities. Racine had the highest unemployment for December at 10.7 percent, followed by Beloit at 9.6 percent.



Unemployment went up in all but 20 of the state’s 72 counties last month. Unemployment is highest in Iron County where it sits at 13.3 percent followed by Bayfield County at 11.2 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate last month was 6.2 percent.
