BRENTWOOD, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire county attorney who’s been suspended while under criminal investigation shared comments on the local budget at the invitation of a county legislative delegation committee.

The Eagle Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1iKJXBi) Rep. Kenneth Weyler of Kingston said he didn’t think the interim Rockingham County Attorney should be handling the office’s fiscal year budget. After consulting with other committee members, he asked James Reams to attend.

Weyler said Reams may not be allowed to prosecute, but he hasn’t been reprised of the position he was elected to do.

Attorney General Joseph Foster stripped Reams of his prosecutorial authority Nov. 6. Prosecutors say the investigation involves alleged discriminatory acts and issues surrounding a federally-funded program.

Reams said he just did what he was asked to do Monday as an elected official.
