ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - Police say a woman who was strangled by her boyfriend Saturday at their home in Albany died of her injuries Monday night at a hospital in Corvallis.

Authorities say 30-year-old Devin Paul Hansen pushed his forearm into the throat of 29-year-old Christine Marie Tiffany Smith.

Charging documents filed Monday say the domestic assault was witnessed by her 3-year-old daughter.

Hansen is charged with attempted murder and assault charges.

A deputy district attorney told the Albany Democrat-Herald (https://bit.ly/1iasWxJ) the only reason Hansen isn’t charged with murder is because he called 911 after Smith collapsed and tried to revive her.
