NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - State police say a 63-year-old woman has died after being unable to escape from a fire at a home in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Police say they responded along with fire crews about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday in Marquette County’s Negaunee Township and found the home burning. Police say Rosemary Juchemich died inside the home and her 69-year-old husband was able to get out.

The fire was put out by about 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police say Daniel Juchemich was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
