NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a northern New Jersey man has been convicted of armed bank robbery.
Jurors deliberated for three hours before returning guilty verdicts Wednesday against 35-year-old Rahman Fulton of Randolph, who was convicted of bank robbery and using a firearm in furtherance of the robbery. He faces up to 27 years in prison when he’s sentenced May 13.
The verdicts culminated a two-week trial.
Prosecutors said Fulton robbed a PNC bank branch in Randolph in May 2012. A bank teller slipped a GPS tracking device in with the money she handed over to Fulton, which soon led them to Fulton’s home.
Prosecutors say Fulton lied to the police about his whereabouts during the robbery and made incriminating statements to his girlfriend and her sister.
