CHICAGO (AP) - A federal lawsuit has been filed against the city of Chicago by three people who claim police officers strip-searched them in public and falsely accused them of heroin possession.

Caprice Halley, Tevin Ford and the estate of Robert Douglas filed the lawsuit Wednesday.

The defendants claim the auto they were in was stopped by police on May 23, 2013. The lawsuit alleges the strip-search took place in public, which stopped when they officers observed residents of the street watching their actions. However, police later took them to an alley and ordered Halley to remove her pants.

The lawsuit, which names eight officers, claims heroin was planted on Halley. The three were later charged with delivery and possession of a controlled substance.

Chicago’s Law Department declined to comment on the lawsuit.
