TRUMANN, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a northeast Arkansas fire chief has died after suffering a medical ailment while fighting a fire.

Trumann Fire Department Lt. Revis Kemper says Fire Chief Rick Winkles suffered a suspected heart attack Tuesday afternoon while responding to a house fire. Kemper says the fire chief died at about 6 p.m. Tuesday at a hospital.

The department says Winkles had served on the Trumann Fire Department for nearly 28 years.

Authorities tell Jonesboro television station KAIT (https://bit.ly/1gqCXt4 ) that Tuesday’s house fire started from an accidental grass fire. No one was injured, but the home is considered a total loss.
