PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - Gov. John Hickenlooper is asking the federal Environmental Protection Agency to put an area near the Pueblo smelter on the national Superfund list.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain (https://tinyurl.com/l58cnep), the listing would provide funds to clean up lead and arsenic on the south side of town.

Residents say they want the contamination cleaned up, but they don’t want the stigma associated with contamination requiring federal intervention.
