SWANSEA, Ill. (AP) - Investigators say a southwestern Illinois man sought for questioning in the death of his father has been found dead in a motel room.
Authorities say they found 36-year-old Jarad Daughtrey’s body Wednesday morning in a room at a Fairview Heights motel. That’s where they earlier had spotted his father’s missing van.
Daughtrey had been sought since Tuesday, after police checking on 61-year-old David Daughtrey found the retired Illinois State Police trooper dead in the Swansea home he shared with his son.
Investigators haven’t released how either man died. Autopsies on both men were planned for Wednesday.
Illinois State Police spokesman Calvin Dye Jr. tells the Belleville News-Democrat that David Daughtrey was a state trooper for 25 years before retiring in 2002.
