JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - State officials say Interstate 55 southbound is closed due to two tractor-trailer trucks jack-knifing at the Copiah/Lincoln county line.

Also, northbound I-55 is limited to one lane in the same area due to a third big rig crash.

Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, says other closures include eastbound Interstate 20, just east of Forest, and northbound Interstate 59 near Enterprise.

Strain says those interstates are impassable because of icy conditions.

State officials are urging residents to stay off the roads if possible until the winter weather passes through.
