GLENWOOD, Iowa (AP) - A man faces a felony gun charge after he accidentally shot his leg while waiting by an Iowa elementary school.
The Mills County Attorney’s Office says 43-year-old Douglas Trent Good called 911 on Friday to report he had shot himself in the leg by a pickup area for West Elementary School in Glenwood. He was listed in good condition at a local hospital.
Omaha television station KETV reports (https://bit.ly/1jFOCom ) Good has a valid gun permit, but only enforcement personnel and military personnel are authorized to carry a firearm on school property.
Good, a former police officer, has been charged with a felony of carrying weapons on school grounds. He is expected in court on Feb. 11. His attorney did not immediately return a message Tuesday.
