WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in a 2011 death in New Hanover County.

Twenty-year-old Garry Orlando Hines entered the plea Monday just before jurors were to begin hearing testimony in his first-degree murder trial.

Hines was charged in the 2011 shooting death of 20-year-old Tremayne Blanks outside a nightclub after a fight inside.

Hines was sentenced to between four years and six years in prison.

Superior Court Judge John Nobles said he had the impression that a number of potential witnesses were going to refuse to testify against Hines.
