DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.2 percent in December, down just slightly from the rate in November.

The Iowa Workforce Development agency reported Tuesday that the rate was down from a revised 4.3 percent rate in November. The national unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent in December.

More than 1.6 million Iowa residents held jobs in December, and an estimated 70,200 remained unemployed.
