VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash on Long Island that claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl and critically injured her 13 year-old sister.
Nassau County police say the car they were riding in was driven by a 19-year-old man who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the driver struck a vehicle making a U-turn in front of him Monday evening on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream.
They say the collision caused him to strike several parking meters and a utility pole before coming to a stop.
Police say the 13-year-old was ejected from the car. She suffered severe head and body trauma.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
