NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. (AP) - Students in New York Mills reported to school in Tuesday’s cold weather - only to be sent home due to a natural gas leak outside the school.

KBRF radio reports (https://bit.ly/1ffR6Es ) the leak was found about 7:45 a.m. and students were sent to the gym as they arrived at school.

Superintendent Blaine Novack says there was no gas in the school but a strong smell lingered so students were dismissed about 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday night activities are going on as normal, and school is expected to resume on time on Wednesday.
