NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A plane that was landing at Norfolk International Airport fatally struck a bald eagle.

Airport deputy executive director Robert Bowen says the eagle was struck on a runway Tuesday morning by a U.S. Airways Express flight operated by Air Wisconsin.

Airport firefighters typically try to chase away wildlife that get close to runways. In this case, Bowen tells The Virginian-Pilot (https://bit.ly/1i8AP6S) that no one saw the eagle.
