EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Three Chicago-area freshmen at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville are accused of defrauding a bank.
The (Alton) Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1hJTepR) reports that prosecutors in Madison County have charged 20-year-old Shaquille Hayes and 18-year-olds William Murphy and Shounice Bruce with financial institution fraud and felony theft.
Authorities allege the trio played roles in electronically depositing the same checks into multiple banking accounts or depositing bogus checks, then withdrawing much of the money.
Online court records don’t show whether Hayes, Murphy or Bruce have attorneys. Home telephone listings could not immediately be found for the three.
