FOREST ACRES, S.C. (AP) - Investigators say four men who fired guns in the air as they burst inside a suburban Columbia home targeted the house because of drug activity.
Authorities say one of the suspects was killed by someone in the home in the Jan. 20 home invasion in Forest Acres.
Police Chief Gene Sealy announced Tuesday that two of the suspects, 26-year-old Ellison Hudson and 23-year-old Derrid Leaphart were arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, attempted murder and six counts of kidnapping - one for each person who was in the home. It wasn’t known if they had attorneys.
Investigators say 23-year-old Deshawn Patterson was killed during the home invasion.
The investigation into the incident continues.
