PHOENIX (AP) - A teenage girl injured in a traffic accident last summer in Gilbert has filed a $250,000 liability claim against the town.
The teen’s claim alleges a malfunctioning traffic signal gave conflicting green lights to cross-traffic at a major intersection.
The girl’s name is redacted from claim documents because she’s a minor.
A claim is a precursor to a lawsuit. Town officials have declined comment.
The girl was driving her family’s minivan at the time of the July crash with a pickup truck.
The Arizona Republic (https://bit.ly/1aYlgwt) reports both drivers and several witnesses told police that the traffic signal glowed green for traffic in both directions.
The claim says the teen is seeking a $250,000 settlement after incurring more than $5,000 in medical bills plus lost wages and “mental health” injuries.
