NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a Bronx man who died after being found unconscious in his jail cell appears to have hanged himself.
The NYPD says 51-year-old Edward Soto man was found unresponsive in his cell at a police station on Manhattan’s Upper East Side around 10 a.m. Sunday.
He was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
Police say it appeared that he hanged himself with a cord found in his cell. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.
The NYPD’s internal affairs bureau is investigating.
