LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a Lafayette man was found dead along the Wabash River more than a week after his family had last seen him.

Police say the body of 25-year-old Neal Bastian was found Sunday in a wooded area along the river’s east bank near downtown Lafayette. Detective Sgt. Brian Phillips tells the Journal & Courier (https://on.jconline.com/1bse0Wx) that investigators found no evidence of criminal activity or foul play.

Police say Bastian’s family last saw him the morning of Jan. 18 on his way to go fishing. Police used off-road vehicles and a helicopter to search the river bank on Friday, but Phillips says melting snow over the weekend helped in discovery of the body.

The cause of Bastian’s death wasn’t immediately determined.
