LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Family and friends of a Dona Ana Community College professor fatally struck by a car a year ago will gather to remember her next month in Las Cruces.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports (https://bit.ly/1fgrtp9 ) a public memorial for Lucy Montes-Sandoval is planned for Feb. 1 at New Mexico State University’s Corbett Center.

The 53-year-old was hit by a car on the NMSU campus Jan. 17, 2013.



Authorities say she later died from her injuries.

Friends of Montes-Sandoval have also created the Lucy Sandoval Scholarship in Nursing.
