SEATTLE (AP) - A judge has ordered a suburban Seattle man held for investigation of murder and assault in the weekend shooting death of a 96-year-old man and a crowbar attack on the man’s granddaughter.
The King County prosecutor’s office said a bail hearing was postponed until Tuesday for 22-year-old Shane Chamberlain.
Normandy Park police found Phillip Hamlin dead in his home when they responded Saturday to 911 calls. Hamlin’s granddaughter, Bethany Hamlin, was treated at a hospital for deep cuts to her head.
Police say in court papers that Chamberlain’s wife was working as Phillip Hamlin’s caregiver.
The Seattle Times reports (https://is.gd/FvVlHV ) that Hamlin’s son, Harry Hamlin, says the caregiver and her husband had been having marital problems and he moved out.
Normandy Park is on Puget Sound south of Seattle.
