OSKALOOSA, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say they are investigating the death of an 18-month-old girl found dead in an Oskaloosa apartment last week.
Special Agent in Charge Mike Motsinger of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said Monday that investigators believe the infant was staying at the apartment at the time of her death. He says investigators are trying to find everyone who was at the residence, interview them and find out what happened.
The Iowa State Medical Examiner has conducted an autopsy of the girl and results are expected in the coming days or weeks.
The Oskaloosa Police Department received a 911 call from someone inside the apartment on Friday afternoon. Responding officers found the girl deceased.
Motsinger says the public is not in danger, but the death is being treated as suspicious.
