HUNTINGTON, Ark. (AP) - The tiny west Arkansas town of Huntington is getting a new City Hall.
City officials say the town has received a $90,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Rural Services to build the facility. The Southwest Times Record reports (https://bit.ly/1i4ANwE ) that the community enhancement grant is intended for cities or communities with 20,000 people or fewer. As of the 2010 Census, Huntington had 635 residents.
The city hopes to build the new building across the street from the current City Hall, which is housed in a building that’s more than 100 years old.
The city’s recorder and treasurer says Huntington officials need to decide on a design plan before an overall cost can be determined but that the $90,000 grant should cover most of the expenses.
