HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg Public School District spokesman Jas N Smith says that if he has to send out a weather alert, a new notification system makes it easy.
He tells the Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1f41u1U ) that the system lets him send out the alerts from his cellphone.
He says in less than a minute, he can send out 4,000 phone calls.
Smith says that so far, he’s used it to send messages about parent meetings and district updates.
It automatically sends notices to parents whose children are absent.
The old system sent out messages by phone. The new one lets them get school news by phone, text, email or all three.
