NEW YORK (AP) - The NYPD has made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run of a 67-year-old pedestrian on Staten Island.
Police charged Michael Pogorzelski, 39, of Staten Island, with DWI. He was arrested early Monday.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Pogorzelki had a lawyer.
Police say James Benedict, of Staten Island, was walking in the bicycle lane on Lily Pond Avenue just before 7 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Lexus.
Police say Benedict was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is continuing.
