BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - A Barboursville man faces charges of fatally shooting two people outside his home with a rifle.

Cabell County Sheriff Thomas McComas tells media outlets that 62-year-old Rodney Bruce Black called 911 and told dispatchers he had shot two people who were breaking into his outbuilding.

McComas says the outbuilding is several yards from Black’s home but isn’t on his property. He says the male victims had a legal right to be there.

Black is charged with two counts of murder. He’s being held at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville.

The shootings occurred Saturday afternoon.

McComas says police don’t believe that Black knew the victims.

The victims’ names haven’t been released.
