PHOENIX (AP) - Police in Phoenix have arrested the girlfriend of a man who died after being hit by a car while out walking.
Sgt. Trent Crump says 20-year-old Jacob Rice was walking on a path near 27th Avenue and Westland Road early Saturday when he was struck and his body was found by a jogger.
Crump says investigators have arrested 20-year-old Brittney Nolan on one count of leaving the scene of a fatal collision but other charges could be filed.
Nolan told investigators she went out looking for Rice after they fought.
According to police, Nolan says she was using her cellphone when she lost control of her Nissan and thought she had struck a pole.
Police say while Nolan did not appear impaired, she admitted to consuming alcohol during the night.
