GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Greensboro officials are ready to give the developers of a proposed luxury hotel $2 million in sweeteners over five years, but they’re drawing the line at building a new parking deck.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports (https://bit.ly/1jwlMXt ) that incentives for the proposed $40 million Wyndham hotel have varied for months. The City Council will hold a public hearing on the incentive at its Feb. 4 meeting.

Investors expect the hotel would create almost 170 jobs, more than two-thirds of them paying less than $30,000 a year.

The hotel project’s Washington, D.C.-based principal investor is Greg Dillon. He says developers can afford to build the parking deck, but they won’t be able to move forward on the hotel without incentives.
