MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A nonprofit organization is planning to build a chicken coop at its farm in downtown Montgomery to teach children about urban farming.

Director of EAT South, Edwin Marty, says his organization is looking to teach children where food comes from and considers the urban farm as a classroom. The organization is partnering with Architecture for Humanity Montgomery to design the chicken coop.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports (https://on.mgmadv.com/1aAcGGq ) about 100 people participated in a community input session on Saturday. Co-coordinator Malin Ulmer says the organizations are planning to use donated money and materials to build the chicken coop by April.
