SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A remembrance ceremony is set for a criminal defense lawyer who handled some of central New York’s most high-profile cases over the past 30 years, including the recent arrest of a man charged with killing his wife in the mid-1980s.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/M0xf3h ) that 70-year-old Jim McGraw died Friday after he collapsed as he walked to the Jefferson County Courthouse in Watertown.

A 1973 graduate of the Syracuse University Law school, McGraw handled criminal defense cases locally, across the country and in Canada. One of his last cases included that of a Georgia man who was charged last month with killing his estranged wife in her Syracuse apartment in 1985.

A ceremony will be held in his honor Friday night at the Onondaga County Courthouse in Syracuse.
