NAPERVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A 21-year-old man is being held on $2 million bond after suburban Chicago authorities say he strangled his new roommate, hours after moving into the man’s townhome.
Grant Muren was charged with first-degree murder and appeared in DuPage County court Saturday.
Prosecutors say he killed 54-year-old Charles Clark in the Naperville home they’d shared for less than a day. State’s attorney Tim Diamond said the two fought after having “intimate relations.”
An autopsy shows Clark had been strangled. His body was found Wednesday.
Authorities say the self-employed computer specialist met Muren after the younger man answered Clark’s Craigslist posting for a new roommate.
Muren was arrested Thursday. His attorney asked for lower bond.
Investigators say Muren tried to burn a lease agreement and cause an explosion at the home.
