LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Lincoln’s annual Spring Affair, a huge volunteer-run plant sale, will be held again this year in the Lancaster Event Center.
The event is an April tradition for plant-lovers from all over the state. This year’s event takes place on April 26 and will offer more than 500 varieties of plants at the daylong sale.
This year’s theme is: “Plants are the Bee’s Knees.” University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Horticulture Specialist Kim Todd says the theme refers to the importance of gardens as far more than just places of beauty. She says gardens are becoming increasingly essential for diversity, pollination, wildlife habitat and other broad environmental issues.
The plants are selected for regional suitability, uniqueness and for popular demand and are provided by Bluebird Nursery in Clarkson.
