BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Fire officials say children playing with matches caused a morning house fire in the the Vermont city of Burlington.
No one was hurt in the fire, which started in a second-floor bedroom of the Howard Street home on Saturday morning. The family was alerted to it by a smoke alarm. They evacuated the home and called 911.
The fire was put out and damage was confined to the second floor.
Fire officials are crediting the homeowners with saving the rest of the home from damage by closing the bedroom door to prevent smoke and fire from spreading.
