WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) - Police in Woonsocket say they have arrested a city resident on charges of domestic felony assault with a weapon after he allegedly shot at the car of someone as he left the suspect’s home.

Police say officers responding to the home of Damaso Hernandez Sr., to investigate the complaint attempted to make contact with the 43-year-old suspect. He initially refused to leave the house and later appeared at the doorway, where officers grabbed him and took him into custody following a brief struggle.

Officers who searched his home found a loaded shotgun, handgun and rifle together with other weapons.

Hernandez is being charged with two counts of domestic felony assault with a weapon, firing a weapon in a compact area, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice. It was not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
