BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A foundation that focuses on educational initiatives benefiting public schools in East Baton Rouge Parish has hired former School Board member Janet Pace as its first executive director.

The Advocate reported (https://bit.ly/1hmXLyh) the Foundation for East Baton Rouge Parish School System has a special focus on science and math.

Pace has worked as director of volunteer outreach and later executive director of the Volunteer Louisiana Commission in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor since 2006. From 2002 to 2005, she served on the parish School Board.



The nonprofit foundation’s board president, Kathryn Kissam, cited Pace’s experience and commitment to public education and its links to industry as keys to her hiring.

Pace bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from Southern Methodist University. In 2012, she received a master’s in public administration from LSU.

She has served on the boards of several local civic organizations.

Pat Duhon, retired former grants coordinator for the school system, had served as interim executive director since the foundation’s formation in 2012.
