SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A Syracuse-based agency for people with disabilities in is being sued by one of its own employees - a blind woman who says a software change essentially cost her a job.
Christine Delay says in her lawsuit that Arc of Onondaga violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it implemented an electronic filing system that wasn’t compatible with the voice program she uses to read computer screens.
Delay tells The Post-Standard of Syracuse (https://bit.ly/1dXN2vX ) that when she complained, her supervisors had her sit through video training sessions, which were worthless because she couldn’t see those screens either.
She says she tried to “muddle through,” but was eventually demoted and given a pay cut.
Arc of Onondaga’s new chief executive declined to comment on the lawsuit.
