WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island State Police trooper has been injured in a series of collisions involving six vehicles on Interstate 95 in Warwick.
WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1jtjo3I ) that Friday’s accident began as the officer stood outside speaking to the driver of a vehicle he had pulled over on Interstate 95 South. Two vehicles collided in the passing lane and moments later two additional vehicles collided in another lane. Those two vehicles struck the police cruiser, pinning the officer against the highway barrier.
The trooper was taken to a hospital for treatment but is not believed to have sustained serious injuries.
WPRI reports that it was unclear Friday afternoon if any other motorists were injured.
The series of collisions is under investigation.
