NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say a 63-year-old resident was found dead after firefighters extinguished a fire inside a Queens apartment.

The victim was discovered around 6 a.m. Friday inside the six-story building at 159th Street in Flushing.

Police say he had severe trauma and burns to the body.



Responding officers discovered the victim unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
