GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A north Georgia university is exploring the idea of adding a Florida campus.
Brenau University President Ed Schrader says the Gainesville, Ga.-based school has plans to expand with a campus in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Times newspaper of Gainesville reports (https://bit.ly/1itA6jc) that Schrader made the comments Thursday at a meeting of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
The Jacksonville campus would become the Georgia school’s first out-of-state venture if it becomes a reality.
Brenau already has a small presence at the Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in south Georgia, about 40 miles north of Jacksonville.
Schrader said market surveys in the area show a need for continuing education in nursing, and graduate education in teacher education and business. He said the idea is in the very early stages.
