NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a drug-dealing gang linked to a string of shootings.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite Jr.’s office says a federal judge handed down the life sentence for 24-year-old Carey Jones on Wednesday.
Jones pleaded guilty to charges related to several shootings, including one that killed a woman in June 2010. Polite’s office says Jones and other alleged gang members also sold crack cocaine.
Other defendants charged in a 34-count indictment in 2012 have pleaded guilty to related charges.
