SHELDON, Vt. (AP) - A new law in Vermont requiring identification from people selling coins to dealers has helped lead police to arrest a man accused of stealing a collection worth about $4,000.
Police said the coins were taken from a residence in November. Some of them were recovered at a coin dealer.
The law requiring identification from those selling items to coin dealers was enacted last June.
As a result of their investigation, St. Albans troopers executed a search warrant at a residence in Sheldon on Wednesday, where they found about 900 coins and identified them as the victim’s property.
Troopers arrested 31-year-old Seth Morgan of Sheldon. He’s been charged with possession and sale of stolen property.
Morgan is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.
