PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Federal and local officials celebrated Friday the opening of the new Choctaw Regional Maintenance Facility on Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians’ land in east Mississippi.
Choctaw Transit is operated by the tribe and serves 10,000 members of the tribe, as well as individuals in the surrounding communities. Service is provided to East Central Community College in Decatur and Meridian Community College, as well as other destinations in Meridian, Jackson and neighboring counties.
Officials say the center will ensure the tribe’s fleet of 40 vehicles is kept in running condition.
