AVON, Conn. (AP) - An Avon doctor has been charged with sexually assaulting patients in his office.
Avon police announced Friday that they arrested Dr. Khosro Pourkavoos on charges of second- and fourth-degree sexual assault Wednesday. He posted $150,000 bail and is scheduled to appear Feb. 5 in Hartford Superior Court.
Pourkavoos didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment Friday. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
Police say their investigation began last June when a female patient made a complaint against Pourkavoos. Other alleged victims were later identified.
State records show no disciplinary actions against Pourkavoos. But he faces a malpractice lawsuit over the 2009 death of a patient whose family claims the patient suffered a pulmonary embolism because Pourkavoos didn’t prescribe blood thinners.
Pourkavoos’ lawyer in the lawsuit declined comment.
