MIAMI (AP) - Two giant otter pups have been born at Zoo Miami.
The brothers were born Dec. 19 and have been kept in a secluded den with their parents. The endangered infants represent the fifth successful litter for Kara and Witoto at the zoo.
A zoo spokesman says the pups will not be placed on exhibit for several more weeks. While only about 2-feet-long now, they could grow to be nearly 6-feet-long and weigh close to 75 pounds as adults.
The Miami Herald (https://goo.gl/wjd885 ) reports that giant otters are found in isolated and remote areas near fresh water lakes, rivers, creeks and reservoirs in South America.
