SHOKAN, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an upstate New York teenager has been charged after he led police on a 30-mile, two-county car chase on a road through the Catskill Mountains.
State police say the pursuit began Wednesday in the Delaware County town of Andes when troopers spotted a minivan that matched the description of a vehicle sought by the county sheriff’s office.
When troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, the 16-year-old driver fled east on state Route 28 into neighboring Ulster County. Police say the chase finally ended in the hamlet of Shokan after troopers placed a tire deflation device across the road.
The teen, from Delancey in Delaware County, was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. He has been charged with unlawful fleeing, reckless endangerment and numerous vehicle and traffic infractions.
